Here's a mixolydian Riff that's a lot of fun to play and a great exercise. But first, what is mixolydian? Well, it’s the fifth scale mode - or you can think of a major scale with a flat 7. Now, this gets used when that flat 7 presents a really strong chord in your progression. You can find this a lot in classic rock music.
In this example, I use it in the theme music for the Travel With Didiayer TV Show. It's a B flat, and I'm resolving there from an A flat. Check it out and have fun.
